They are quite different. If you work low volume, Professional will suffice.
If you're a publishing Business or have a large blog-base, consider Heavy Duty first, Professional second (both = best).

v/Amateur (aka AMA)
Provides access to the core, yet very limited, functionality of the WordPress XMLRPC functions. Does not require an extra plugin.
v/Professional (aka PRO)
Provides access to the core, yet very limited, functionality of the WordPress XMLRPC functions. BUT it extends this functionality to virtually doing anything on your remote blog with an extra plugin provided to you. It's designed for Professionals who host their own blogs. It can call any WordPress function, do remote SQL queries and it can even executed advanced chunks of code remotely.
v/Heavy Duty (aka HD)
Embeds the functionality of both versions but it's slightly more advanced. Unlike the previous version which are designed for easy serial processing, WpAPI-HD has parallel processing capabilities allowing handling (posting, managing) hundreds of blogs in minutes, not hours. It's designed for heavy-hitters and companies. (owning both Professional and Heavy Duty is for overlords)
